अभिभन्यु की मृत्यु के बाद मोहाकुल और दुःख से कातर अर्जुन को श्रीकृष्ण ने चंद्रलोक पहुॅचाकर बेटे से मिलाया,किंतु उसने अर्जुन को पिता के रूप में स्वीकार नहीं किया।ज्ञातव्य है कि महाभारत के अनेक पात्र देवतावों के अंशावतार थे,जिनमें अभिमन्यु चंद्रमा का पुत्र वर्चा था,जिसे चंद्रदेव ने 15 वर्ष के लिये ही पृथ्वी पर भेजा था।कठोपनिषद की कथा के अनुसार उद्दालक ऋषि का बालक नचिकेता पिता द्वारा यम के पास भेजा गया।वहाॅ उसने तीन वरदान पाये।अंततःआत्म तत्व यानी ब्रह्म विद्या का रहस्यमय ज्ञान प्राप्त कर ब्रह्मलोक चला गया।श्रीमद्भागवत,नवम् स्कंध में आई कथा के अनुसार ककुद्मी अपनी पुत्री रेवती को लेकर ब्रह्मलोक बेटी के लिये वर पूछने गये और वहाॅ कुछ क्षण ही रुकने पर ब्रह्मा जी ने बताया कि अबतक पृथ्वी पर सदियाॅ बीत चुकी हैं और लौटने पर इस कन्या के योग्य वर श्रीकृष्ण के अग्रज बलराम वहाॅ होंगे।ककुद्मी लौट आये और रेवती का विवाह बलराम जी से कर दिया। वाल्मीकि रामायण व अन्पत्र उल्लेखों के अनुसार परशुराम जी अति तीव्रगति से किसी भी लोक जा सकते थे।रामचरितमानस में श्रीराम जब शरभंग ऋषि के आश्रम पहुॅचे,तो उन्होंने कहा -‘
“जात रहेउॅ विरञ्चि के धामा।सुनेउ स्रवन वन अइहैं रामा।।
चितवत पंथ रहेउॅ दिन राती।अब प्रभु देखि जुड़ानी छाती”।।
यानी सहज ही वे ब्रह्मा जी के लोक आया जाया करते थे।पतिव्रता सावित्री ने अपने मृत पति सत्यवान को मृत्युमुख से वापस लाने के लिये यमराज का पीछा किया और उन्हें झुकने पर मजबूर किया।मृत सत्यवान को जीवित करवा लिया ऋषि पुलस्य अपने नाती रावण को सहस्रबाहु की कैद से छुड़ाने के लिये परलोक से पृथ्वी पर आये और कार्य करके फिर वापस चले गये।
