अयोध्या राज्य की उपनगरी लक्ष्मणपुरी यानी लखनऊ श्रीराम और हनुमान जी की भक्ति से तो आप्लावित है ही,पर यहाॅ श्रद्धावान् शाक्तों की भी कमी कभी नहीं रही है।यहाॅ देवी भगवती के भी विभिन्न रूपों के कई प्राचीन मंदिर हैं।कहा जाता है कि 7 बहने अपने विभिन्न रूपों में इस नगर की रक्षा करती हैं।इस क्रम में चौपटिया मोहल्ले का संदोहन देवी मंदिर लगभग 500 साल पुराना है।जहाॅ ये प्रतिष्ठित हैं वहाॅ भक्तों को स्वप्न में पिण्डी रूप में देवी जी के विद्यमान होने की जानकारी मिली थी।खुदाई में वे मिली और मंदिर बनाकर प्रताष्ठित की गईं।चौक के रानीकटरा में छै शताब्दी पुराना संकटा देवी मंदिर है।कहते हैं इन देवी जी का श्रीविग्रह दिन में तीन बार अपना रॅग बदलता है।ये कश्मीरियों की कुल देवी हैं और सभी संकटों को दूर करती हैं।सआदतगञ्ज में मातादीन रोड पर मसानी देवी मंदिर है।पहले गोमती लखनऊ नगर के बीच से बहती थीं और यहाॅ श्मशान था।यहाॅ रूप संकटा देवी का ही है,किंतु पहले मरघट होने के कारण मसानी देवी कही गईं।यहाॅ भगवान नृसिंह व अन्य देवों की भी मूर्तियाॅ हैं।इनकी पूजा अर्चना से नि:संतान को संतान प्राप्त होती है।बुधवार इनका विशेष दिन है।सरायमाली खाॅ में जियालाल फाटक के पास मनसा देवी का मंदिर भी भक्तों की मनोकामना पूर्ण करने वाला है।नसीरुद्दीन शाह के समय जब गणेशगञ्ज बस रहा था,तो जंगल में भूमि के नीचे एक देवी मिलीं,इन्हें पहले एक छोटी सी मठिया में स्थापित कर दिया गया।बाद में एक सिख भक्त की मनोकामना पूरी होने पर उन्होंने मंदिर बनवा दिया।ये भुइयाॅ देवी कहलाईं।रोग दोष हरने वाली माता शीतला पुराण प्रसिद्ध हैं,जो गर्दभ पर सवार,दिगम्बरा हैं।वे एक हाथ में मार्जनी(झाड़ू)और दूसरे में कलश लिये हैं।इनका मस्तक सूप से अलंकृत है।नगर के मेहदीगंज में इनका मंदिर है।मान्यता है कि श्रीराम पुत्र लव ने इनकी स्थापना कराई।मंदिर में शुंग कालीन मूर्तियाॅ मौजूद हैं।चौक में काली माता का प्रसिद्ध प्राचीन मंदिर काफी ऊॅची कुर्सी पर निर्मित है।इसके आसपास कई छोटे छोटे मंदिर हैं।काली माता का श्रीविग्रह नीलमणि के समान है और उनका जानुतल’यानी घुटने से नीचे का भाग,रोमराशि पूर्ण है।यहाॅ माॅ की चतुर्भुजी मूर्ति हजारों वर्ष पुरानी है और पुरातात्विक महत्व की है।
इन सात मातावों के अलावा नगर से बाहर सीतापुर रोड पर कुछ हटकर प्रसिद्ध चन्द्रिका देवी मंदिर है,जिसकी सम्बद्धता लक्ष्मण पुत्र चन्द्रकेतु से बताई जाती है,लेकिन यह मुख्य नगर में नहीं है। सभी माताएं इस नगर का विशेष तौर पर और सामान्यतया सम्पूर्ण विश्व का कल्याण करती हैं।
